If you or someone you know is struggling with an addiction to prescription painkillers or heroin, (a.k.a. opioids), our Suboxone program can help. Suboxone is a prescription-only medication used to treat opioid dependency. We carefully prescribe this treatment to eligible patients, and offer counseling and support services to help in their recovery.

Please call for more information. Our program is available to a limited number of patients at a time; participation will require a brief evaluation. If you are a newly accepted applicant, please download and complete our Suboxone forms, and bring them along to your first consultation.

Please note that we do not accept insurance for Suboxone. It is a self-pay program that is available at an affordable rate.

VIVITROL

If you or someone you know is struggling with a alcohol or opioid dependence, VIVITROL along with counseling can help.

VIVITROL (naltrexone for extended-release injectable suspension) is a prescription injectable medicine used to treat alcohol dependence and prevent relapse to opioid dependence after opioid detox. VIVITROL is used in combination with counseling to treat both the both physical and psychological aspects of addition. VIVITROL’s long-acting formula means the injection only has to be administered once a month and VIVITROL doesn’t lead to physical dependence. Stopping your VIVITROL treatment doesn’t cause withdrawal either.

How does VIVITROL work? Addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease. While counseling addresses the psychological aspect of addiction, VIVITROL works on the physical by blocking the pleasurable feelings associated with opioid or alcohol use. This combination is proven to be an effective treatment. In a study of alcohol-dependent patients participating in counseling plus VIVITROL, patients had significantly fewer heavy drinking days and more success maintaining complete abstinence. In a study of opioid-dependent patients participating in counseling plus VIVITROL, patients were able to increase the number of days of complete abstinence, stay in treatment longer, experience less craving and were less likely to relapse to physical dependence. To find out more about the study results, visit the VIVITROL website.

If you or someone you know is interested in VIVITROL, please call Apple Ridge Family Medicine for more information.
